What happens when you mix sex and porn together with power, fame, and greed? You get James Franco’s gay porn thriller, “King Cobra”.
Based on a true story, “King Cobra” is a visual retelling of true crime melodrama that took place in the adult entertainment world. The movie has finally gotten an official trailer, giving us a sneak peek into a whole new world.
The drama follows the rise of gay film star Sean Paul Lockhart (famously known by his porn star name as Brent Corrigan), and his relationship with former Cobra Video CEO Bryan Kocis, the producer who discovered him and kicked start his career in the XXX-genre.
As noted by Rolling Stone via Inquisitr, Kocis was a former medical photographer who discovered Lockhart “back in the early 2000’s through an online model search for his films. Immediately struck by his good looks and ample physical assets, Bryan would go on to sign Sean to a exclusive contract with Cobra, making him the main star in several of his erotic films. With each passing scene, Lockart’s popularity grew and in turn, so did Kocis’ wealth and popularity.”
As Brent Corrigan’s fame began to rise, the young Lockhart believed that he would be better off without being tied down to Kocis. Unfortunately, the porn star actor was legally bound to work only for him.
Enter Harlow Cuadra and Joseph Kerekes (played by James Franco and Keegan Allen respectively), a pair of romantically-involved rival adult film producers with an interest to sign “the industry’s most promising new bottom” with their company. This is when things get bloody.
The official synopsis is as follows:
“King Cobra is a deliciously dark, twisted plunge into the behind-the-scenes world of the pornography industry. It’s 2006, YouTube is in its infancy, and internet porn is still behind a paywall. Taking the stage name Brent Corrigan, a fresh-faced, wannabe adult video performer (Garrett Clayton) is molded into a star by Stephen (Christian Slater), a closeted gay porn mogul who runs the skin flick empire Cobra Video from his seemingly ordinary suburban home.
“But as Brent’s rise and demands for more money put him at odds with his boss, he also attracts the attention of a rival producer (James Franco) and his unstable lover (Keegan Allen) who will stop at nothing to squash Cobra Video and steal its number one star. Co-starring Alicia Silverstone and Molly Ringwald, King Cobra is part delirious, tabloid-shocker satire, part American tragedy.”
Although there’s no nudity or sexual acts in the trailer, the film is of an adult nature. Watch:
