Are you feeling pink or black?
That was the question of the day at last Thursday’s Magnum ice cream party. The event was in celebration of the official launch of 2 new delicious ice-cream flavours – the Magnum Pink and Magnum Black. The Magnum Pink and Black Party took place at the Grand Ballroom, ALOFT KL Sentral.
Pleasure Seekers and members of the media were given a teaser of what was to come, back in January. We were previously given a crash course on the art of molecular gastronomy where renowned restaurateur Chef Isadora Chai demonstrated first hand on how Magnum’s iconic desserts were created.
The Magnum Pink and Black Party, however, took things to a whole new level and we were pleasantly surprised. The venue at the grand ballroom was split into 2 luxury spaces of experiences. The Magnum Pink area was more dreamlike and flirtatious while the Magnum Black section had a more brooding and mysterious feel to it.
At the entrance, guests were greeted with a personalised sensory tag wristband that allowed those present to tag into 4 customised Pink and Black stations to determine their mood colour of the moment. The percentage of the accumulated mood counts were then displayed on the gigantic Magnum stage, giving live updates on what the Magnum mood was during the event.
To start with, partygoers were introduced to the Magnum Moodology, a fun and interactive mood test that determines whether you’re a Magnum Pink or a Magnum Black. And the mood-related activities didn’t just stop there.
As we entered the ballroom, an impressive Magnum Pink and Black Pleasure Bar awaited us with drinks and dessert inspired by the 2 brand new ice creams.
Call us biased, but the customised pink and black dipping bar at the “Make My Magnum” station was hands down our favourite. The thrill of personalising our fresh Magnum Pink and Black ice-cream with 3 toppings was exciting. Yum!
The Magnum Pink boasts lush, silky pink pomegranate flavoured ice cream with delicate swirls of pomegranate sauce. A pearlescent layer of pink Belgian chocolate envelopes the outside of the ice-cream. The tanginess of pomegranate and inviting pink hue suggests fun, exuberance, and playfulness.
If you have a sweet tooth, we’d suggest you to go for the Magnum Pink Pomegranate. But if you’re a coffee lover, then the Magnum Black Espresso is your recommended dessert. The Magnum Black embodies sophistication. A combination of black espresso mixed with vanilla ice-cream and a thick layer of premium dark Tanzanian chocolate will surely appeal to gourmet coffee and chocolate lovers alike.
Sticking to the moods of Pink and Black, violinist Dennis Lau and Malaysia’s powerhouse vocalist, Ning Baizura entertained us pleasure seekers with a medley of performances. Lau was amazing with his instrumental interlude of Sam Smith’s “Writing’s On The Wall”, while Ning treated us with a flirtatious number – Beyonce’s “Love On Top” – and showed her vocal chops on Adele’s “Hello”.
