Last Friday (29th May), 100PLUS welcomed 2 of football’s finest, Pelé and Oscar, to Malaysia in conjunction with its “The Great Stay Thirsty” campaign. Also as part of the campaign, the beverage giants rewarded 100 lucky winners with the once-in-a-lifetime chance to meet the legend and the prodigy.
Pelé and Oscar are the first international ambassadors signed by 100PLUS and were chosen to inspire youths across the nation via the “The Great Stay Thirsty” campaign. With Oscar having recently won the premiership with Chelsea FC and Pelé being regarded as the greatest footballer of all time, the 2 superstars are the embodiment of turning dreams into reality through hard work, determination and a thirst for life.
During their visit to Malaysia, 100PLUS hosted Pelé and Oscar for a variety of activities at the KL Convention Centre.
Oscar shared his knowledge and skill for the sport through the “Stay Thirsty” Football Clinic with the four leading teams in the Ministry of Education Football League: SSM Tunku Ismail (Johor), SSM Pahang, SMK Za’ba (Negri Sembilan) and SMK Putera (Kelantan). The Ministry of Education League is a partnership between 100PLUS, the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Youth & Sports in an effort to develop young football talents in Malaysia and encourage a healthier, sportier lifestyle among youths.
In support of this partnership, the Minister of Youth & Sports, Y.B. Khairy Jamaluddin was also in attendance.
“As Malaysia’s leading sports beverage, 100PLUS plays a large role in paving the way for successful sports initiatives that inspire the community to strive and push beyond their limits, and hunger to do better,” said Y.B. Khairy Jamaluddin. “The progress of sports in Malaysia is only achievable with sponsors and brands like 100PLUS supporting and developing youth initiatives such as this,” he added.
Also in conjunction with its partnership with the Ministry of Youth & Sports, 100PLUS presented a cheque worth over RM2million to Y.B. Khairy Jamaluddin at the press conference in support of the National Football programme.
Pelé, on the other hand, shared his vast experience in an audience with the National Football Team. Noted as the most successful league goal scorer in the world, Pelé divulged his triumphs and hardships throughout his history on the field, encouraging current and future athletes to “Stay Thirsty” for greatness.
100PLUS engaged viewers from across the nation by providing a live stream of the “The Great Stay Thirsty” Team Talk with Pelé on the official website. Through this, viewers were also able to partake in the Q&A with Pelé by submitting their questions via Twitter.
