A rare few may know him as Calvin Cordozar Broadus, Jr. while others know him for being a calm and collected “bad ass” hip hop artiste, also one of Dr. Dre’s most notable protégés. Yes, that’s the one. He who goes by the moniker “Snoop Dogg”.
Well, as least he used to.
In recent times, Calvin aka Snoop announced that he has officially dropped the “Dogg act” and upgraded his name. This was all due to his apparent spiritual and artistic rebirth during his stay in Jamaica, where he was given the name by Rastafarian priests.
(Who knew that there was such a thing – Rastafarian priests?)
“I didn’t know that until I went to the temple, where the High Priest asked me what my name was, and I said, ‘Snoop Dogg.’ And he looked me in my eyes and said, ‘No more. You are the light; you are the lion.’ From that moment on, it’s like I had started to understand why I was there”, he said of his “reincarnation” at a news conference in New York.
Snoop, who is currently working on his fifth album, “Reincarnated” (which is strictly a reggae project) added, “I have always said I was Bob Marley reincarnated. I feel I have always been a Rastafari. I just didn’t have my third eye open, but it’s wide open right now.”
And what is this mysterious name he speaks of you ask? Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, meet the all-new “Snoop Lion”:
What? Don’t laugh. It’s true! Now, where are the memes?
