The competition between the major airline companies in Malaysia is getting tighter as AirAsia just said that the reopening of Kuala Lumpur-London air route is very likely to happen soon.
On 26th Nov, AirAsia group co-founder Tan Sri Tony Fernandes announced via Twitter that the Kuala Lumpur-London air route is “definitely on the cards”, adding that a discussion with the Mayor of London Boris Johnson will be happening next week.

The suggestion was made due to the high demand and requests to reopen the KL to London air route, a route which was forced to end in March 2012 due to high taxes in Europe.
Despite its closure, Fernandes tweeted that the air route is the “most wanted route” for AirAsia X due to the low-cost, long-haul flights to United Kingdoms.

The decision to reopen the route is linked to AirAsia’s with Air Bus, a global team designing, manufacturing, and supporting the world’s leading aircraft. It was reported that the 50 A330-900neo aircraft will be ordered in July to ensure the resumption of service on this route.
To add icing to the cake, the AirAsia CEO has also announced a flight to Hawaii is being considered as part of their growth strategy. Having taken various AirAsia X flights, Fernandes is confident that AirAsiaX is going to better than full service airlines.
He also tweeted that AirAsiaX is on its way to profitability despite some odd pricing.
Although Fernandes did not release any new information about the flight routes yet, AirAsiaX CEO Azran Osman Rani told The Rakyat Post that “a deal should be reached” by this year.
He also revealed that the long-haul flights to London won’t be happening anytime soon. The deliveries will only start from 2017 once they’ve found the right planes that would give much better fuel economy for AirAsiaX.

While we await further updates on the flight service, Fernandes tweeted that he will be giving out one free air ticket to people who tell him why they love AirAsia X.
