It was the first time The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge ever set foot on Malaysian soil. But like most of the world, there’s almost nothing that we don’t already know about the royal couple.
Fairy tale romance, wedding of the century, ambassadors, coupled with hearts of pure gold – such are the new generation of royalties from the UK.
Early yesterday, Prince William and Kate Middleton arrived at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) on the second leg of their Asia Pacific tour to commemorate Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee.
To most Malaysians, their arrival created history.
Shortly after their arrival, the royal couple headed off to Hospis Malaysia (an organization providing care for patients with life-threatening illnesses) in Kuala Lumpur. The hospice appearance is among the most anticipated events of the nine-day trip.
Another page was added to the history books when The Duchess of Cambridge delivered her maiden speech outside of the UK:
William and I are hugely excited to be in Malaysia – this, our first ever visit. It has been wonderful meeting the patients, families and all the staff here, you have given us the most wonderful welcome. Providing children and their families with a place of support, care and enhancement at a time of great need is simply life-changing. With effective palliative care, lives can be transformed.

Evidently, this was a moment that they would remember – forever. It planted hope in the hearts of the ill-stricken children. (Source)
The Duke and Duchess even participated in carvings with/for the children. Yes, carvings.
Behold, Kate’s interpretation of what makes her happy, as requested by one of the children at Hospis Malaysia:
Also requested by one of the children at Hospis Malaysia, Prince William’s “Tom and Jerry” carving:
Their visit at Hospis Malaysia ended with the launch of the National Paediatric Pallative Care Police by Malaysian Health Minister, Datuk Seri Lieow Tiong Lai. Then, Will and Kate unveiled a commemorative plaque before being presented with batik gifts before leaving.
Later that night, The Duke and Duchess were guests at a dinner thrown by our Agong at the Istana Negara Malaysia. Needless to say, Kate Middleton absolutely dazzled in her gold Alexander McQueen gown. Be still, our hearts. (Source)
Have we already mentioned how beautiful they are? Their Royal Highnesses’ Malaysian tour continues today at they are slated to appear at KLCC Park to visit the cultural fair. Malaysians will also be given a chance-of-a-lifetime opportunity to catch a glimpse of the beautiful couple.
