The time of the year is now for MTV – and no, we’re not talking about MTV World Stage 2012.
Your favourite artistes are all set to “clash” on the 6th September 2012 at the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs). Broadcast live from the Staples Center arena in Downtown Los Angeles, this year’s event is already raking up some sizable excitement considering the names on the list of nominees that were just released a week ago.
Fans can anticipate Rihanna and Drake to come face-to-face with five nominations each, including vying for “Video of the Year” whereas Katy Perry is pretty much owning it with four nominations. Other acts that are currently in the running with three nominations include Beyoncé, Coldplay, Frank Ocean, M.I.A. and the Throne.
Also, the next time someone tells you that electronic dance music (EDM) is bad influence, pull up this list of DJ/producer names for them – the VMA newbies but long-time EDM extraordinaire icons that are also in the running for a “spaceman” of their own are such as Avicii, Skrillex, Calvin Harris, Duck Sauce, and Martin Solveig.
