The Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) has dismissed a rumour that Malaysia Airlines Flight MH149 went missing last night en route from Kuala Lumpur to Melbourne, Australia.
The flight had taken off from KL International Airport at 10:07pm Tuesday (23rd February).
Bernama quoted DCA director-general Datuk Seri Azharuddin Abdul Rahman as saying that the flight has landed safely in Melbourne at 5:21am (8:21am Australian time) Wednesday (24th February).
The rumour circulated on social media was a false report disseminated by irresponsible people that could spark anxiety among the public, he told reporters. The report had said that Flight MH149 had gone off radar.
Real time air traffic tracker Flightradar24 also debunked the rumour late last night, stating that MH149 was safely flying at 35,000 feet.
@switzayu What is the source of that information? MH149 is flying at 35.000 feet https://t.co/wbWWnhGNJI
