With The CW’s “iZombie“ ending on a huge cliffhanger in the 1st season, it’d be lie if we said that we aren’t feeling excited about its upcoming season 2.
Now, The CW is giving us a first taste of the new season of “iZombie” through its first trailer and it seems like Rose McIver, who is back as the undead, has got a new set of brains – to eat.
Produced by “Veronica Mars” creator Rob Thomas, “iZombie” is an one-hour drama loosely based on DC Comic’s Vertigo Imprint series of the same name, written by Chris Roberson with art by Michael Allred.
It follows the story of Olivia “Liv” Moore, a 25-year-old overachieving medical resident who became a zombie after attending a party that shockingly turned into a “zombie feeding frenzy”. Stuck somewhere half-alive and undead, Liv loses all traces of her former drive and ambition. To maintain her humanity, she transfers her medical residency to the city morgue in order to reluctantly access the only real form of sustenance left available to her – human brains.
McIver, who starred in “The Lovely Bones” and ABC’s “Once Upon A Time”, is portraying Liv while newcomer Rahul Kohli portrays her medical examiner boss, Dr. Ravi Chakrabarti. The series also stars Malcolm Goodwin as Clive Babineaux, Robert Buckley as Major Lilywhite, and David Anders as Blaine DeBeers.
As seen in the 45-second trailer, McIver is back as the kick-ass crime-fighting heroine, eating brains of the deceased. We are also offered a glimpse of Kohli as Dr. Ravi, Steve Weber as Max Roger, the head honcho who’s responsible for the zombie virus, and David Anders as Blaine, who has turned from a jerk to a zombie and now back to a jerk/mob boss.
Robert Buckley’s Major and Aly Michalka’s Peyton are missing in this episode, but we reckon that they will be back in future episodes. One thing for sure, Bradley James‘s Lowell is definitely coming back to life as the actor himself is busy filming his next series, “Damien“.
